Some people using OptiCel have experienced noticeable improvements in the promotion of their blood glucose (also often called blood sugar) in as little as 3 days. Any noticeable change will depend on the individual and it may increase over time. Daily Blood Glucose readings more in target ranges for both fasting glucose and post pandrial (i.e. 2-3 hours post meal) can demonstrate improved metabolic health.
A1c is measured via a blood test and is a measure of your average blood sugar for the last 2-3 months. It measures what percentage of your hemoglobin (a protein the red blood cells that carry oxygen) is coated with sugar. The higher your A1c level, the poorer your blood sugar control and the higher your risk of diabetes and its complications.
Insulin is a hormone secreted by your pancreas. Its main role is to regulate the amount of nutrients in your blood stream including managing blood sugar. It also affects the metabolism of fat and protein. When cells stop properly responding to insulin, it is called insulin resistance. If insulin resistance occurs then typically the body will have higher insulin and blood sugar levels, potentially leading to damage of the pancreas.
Monitoring weight and body mass index can be helpful in assessing the metabolic and overall health of the body. Being overweight increases risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Improving the body’s metabolic systems and living a healthy lifestyle can help to reduce weight and BMI and thereby reduce the burden on bones and joints.
